1935 Rolls Royce shooting Brake SUV
Model: Rolls Royce 20/25
Body Style: wood bodied Station Wagon
Construction: Ladder chassis with Steel & Alloy at front & Wood bodied at rear (1928~~1936), 3824 chassis been made by Rolls Royce Co. Each body was made to order of each customer! Body built by Franay coachbuilder.
Engine: Water cooled inline OHC 6 cylinder 3669cc
Transmission: 4 speed manual
Suspension: Front -forged axle and rear -torque tube axle with Leaf spring with adjustable oil damper all around.
Brake: 17'' inch air cooled drum for all wheel.
Max Speed: 125 Km/h
History:

Honourable Charles Rolls was an entrepreneur, who soldforeign automobile in London, Henry Royce was a manchester electrical engineering, who build three experimental prototype10hp twin cylinder cars in 1903.They teamed up at 1904 to from a Rolls Royce Limited to build the British faster, reliable, supreme luxury, expensive high quality automodile. The 40/50 was introduced at 1907 Olympia motor show, This silver Ghost really could make a plausible claim to being the best car in the world. For 1909 the engine capacity increased to pic17428cc,1922 had added a light weight style 20 model with 3127cc,The twenty was developed more for owner-drivers. Which produce until 1928.Than a new powerful 20/25 with a 3669 cc motor, The 20/25 introduced in end of 1928 and manufactured until early 1936.Total 3824 been made, The 20/25 used the same engine as the twenty, but bored out to 3.7L,it used the same seven-bearing crankshaft.4.6:1 compression ratio make it have more than 100 horsepower. As the twenty chassis, a 129 inch wheelbase use for the new 20/25 until 1930 a 132 inch wheelbase replace the old chassis. Unlike the twenty, a vertical shutter on the grille. Also a water temp warning light on the dash board, when Temp reached 90 deg C, it will work. All the grease points become attached to the central lubrication system at 1932 model. A built-in car jack system was added on 1934 model. a lot of small improve at 20/25 model. In 1931 Rolls Royce bought Bentley. 1936 a 25/30 model replaced the 20/25 model, engine increased to 4275cc and engine got 115 hp, top speed up to 85mph.

In 1972, Rolls Royce Ltd become bankrupt after got trouble with the RB211 aircraft engine, the car division was separated out and floated as a public Co. Today Rolls Royce is still a Luxury brand in the Car market. Many people believe it is the best car in the world.

This Rolls-Royce we got was a very rare shooting brake (most were Hooper Limousine, fabric Sedan, Sports Sedan, Convertible body, Sedanca body, Sedance de Ville, Doctors's Couper, Roadster, Tourer body, open-drive Limousine body) and it is also the last model design by Royce, A lot of improvement, like petrol gauge on dash modified gear box casing allow the floor board to be lower, more horsepower, adjustable suspension damper make this New 20/25 could reach 75 mph! This is a greatest inter- war success model on Rolls-Royce Ltd. history.

The first owner Mr. Mons Goffin use one year to build the body by Franay at Franch, before WWII this car ship to USA until 1979 Mr. Lis family bought the car from Mr. Hopfs hand than send to HK. Until today , this very rare nice shap wood bodied shooting brake model keep at very low mile, top condition This car never rust, the vehicle been fully restored by our Co again at 2004. Full history for this car & it fitted original engine, gear box & re-registered in HK again on 2003

1935年 勞斯萊斯 20/25 木制貴族旅行轎車

勞斯萊斯20/25 HP是20的新型號,1918年第一次世界大戰在歐洲結束,整個歐洲經濟陷入困境,英國本士也不例外,富商消費意慾低沉,豪華汽車和民用飛機引擎需求大降,車廠面臨歷來最嚴峻的考驗,1920年底廠方決定推出一款比較小的新型號轎車,這新車並可以由富人自己駕駛,這新車使原有要有司機駕駛的40/50 HP型號不會出現正面競爭,而是兩者可以共存,更擔任貴族們家裡的第二輛汽車,這款汽車的優點是小巧、實用及省油,但動力不足,因這20 HP是採用一台3127cc直列六汽缸引擎,車架價格比40/50便宜了近百分之40,(戰前大多數高級轎車廠只會提供新車的底盆、引擎、波箱和前後橋,車身可以在又或車廠認可的車身廠訂造,和今天的卡車十分像,車尾是訂造的)。車身可以按車主不同的需要訂造,一般有開篷、房車、半開篷、二門跑車等,可供選配,價格由400英鎊到1000英鎊不等,這是一半車價以上,當年一輛Austin奧斯汀平民汽車連車身才100英鎊,現在大家會有了一點1000英鎊在20年代的價值的概念。

1929年廠方推出第二代小勞斯萊斯,編號20/25 HP,此車配備了一台3669cc直列六汽缸OHV引擎,四前速波箱,配上可調吸震器,大大改善行車性能,並配上四輪煞車系統,前輪煞車力度會因車速改變,車速越快,前煞車力會越大,這主要是為了因急煞車車內乘客向前衝的力度,這系統十分複雜,因為煞車系統和波箱速度連接起來了,這設計一直沿用至戰後的新款勞斯萊斯。由於新車馬力得到改善,不少車主採用更豪華的車身,這同時也加重了車子,失去了原廠的原望。但盡管這樣,這車的油耗量還比不上一代低,這車是採用不傳統的右手換檔(對右舵車來說一般都是左手換檔,今天也是這樣。)在八年的生產期裡,有3827輛出售給世界各地貴族和富豪,在這裡我不得提一下在以前勞斯萊斯並不一定是你有錢就可以像今日可以買到的,一般爆發戶,金錢來歷不明又或者英國政府不認可你,你便不可訂車,所以在以前可以擁有勞斯來斯的人不但要富有,更要有社會地位,不像今日有錢就可以訂車。

今日大家看見的是一台1935年製造的Rolls Royce,這車車身由法國名門Franay車身廠用了一年來制作,所用木材來自一百年前的舊木,那個年代用木來做轎車和游艇是身份象徵,而旅行車更是少有; 因為這必是家中第三輛以後的轎車。因為用木造車身不但十分昂貴,而且還要等,不是付錢馬上可以買得到。此車在二戰前運到了美國,1979年被本港名門運來香港,2003年由現任車主進行徹底翻新。這車至今行走哩數不過 一萬英哩 ,而且所有配件都是原裝,車身也從沒有生銹。此車大樑號碼GC519,引擎號碼E25V。這輛車保留了30年代出色的手工造車工藝。這車不但是車廠在戰前最好銷量的型,它更在上一世紀三十年代將勞斯萊斯從嚴重財困中重新站起來,對車廠來說有更大的意義 。(如果你想轉用以上資料可以和我聯絡 Email : matailap@yahoo.com )
